Yes, the BDB Platform has built-in 70+ standard connectors for RDBMS (Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL), Big Data, social media, APIs, etc. It also provides the capability to write a custom data connector to a proprietary database like IBM DB2 where a license needs to be embedded inside the connector.

Does the BDB Platform support the Text/CSV Files?

Yes, BDB Platform supports direct CSV File upload via Data Sandbox and also there is provision to read from AWS S3, Azure blob, SFTP location.

Does the BDB Platform support SSAS SQL Server analysis service?

Yes, the BDB Platform supports SSAS SQL Server analysis service.

In BDB Data Center, under Data Set and Data Store, we have options for Push to VCS (Export to VCS) & Pull from VCS (import from VCS) options are present to import/Export cube/dataset from VCS to keep track of the changes.

Does the BDB Platform support Automatic Time Series Generation with Hierarchy from one to the second level?

BDB Data Store automatically deducts time series generation with hierarchy from year/month/week/day & hours/minutes/seconds level.

Does the BDB Platform provide Financial and Calendar Year in Time Dimension?

BDB Platform enables financial and calendar year in the Time dimension hierarchy.

Does the BDB Platform provide a scheduler for refreshing the data?

BDB Data Store has a scheduler to schedule the data refresh. Data Set/Dat Store can be refreshed from the BDB Data Center module. The Schedule Data Refresh option in Data Sets and Data Store helps to set refresh at the defined interval - Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly with any customizations as the requirement.

Does the BDB Platform support ranking through Data sets?

Yes, Rank/Dense rank can be achieved using the Data Set and shown in the Reports.

Does the BDB Platform support delivery method via email?

Yes, the BDB Platform provides report bursting at a scheduled interval and an open-document link of the dashboard or PDF export of the report can be delivered over specified emails.

The BDB Platform enables to deliver output in form of excel/csv file and write it to a file system.

Yes, the BDB Platform has an open document feature that generates a token-based link for the dashboard and self-service which can be integrated with other applications. BDB Platform has built-in capability for publishing the data as API and data science (advanced analytics) model as API.

Does the BDB Platform support Single Sign On(SSO) integration?

Yes, In BDB Platform Trusted Authentication can be used to support authentication methods such as SAML, x.509, and other methods which do not have dedicated authentication plugins. If your application server can work as a SAML service provider, you can use Trusted Authentication to provide SAML SSO to the BDB platform.

Does the BDB have the data model customization and governance capabilities of the system?

BDB Platform doesn’t have any internal data cache. We leverage the Analytics data base which is the physical data model. On top of the Physical data model, Platform provides logical views which are exposed as services for data dissemination. These data services are controlled via RBAC.

Does the system support versioning and rollback of data models?

Logical data model built inside the platform can be version controlled.

Can the system be configured in a SaaS environment to allow specific end users to add external data and combine reports with existing, pre-configured, tables without being able to modify existing tables?

Yes, Platform supports ability to add new data sources based on the RBAC. User can create data services (Logical data model) on top of these new data sources for consumption in dashboards. Modification of the pre-configured data services (logical data model) can be prevented via RBAC.

Describe the data wrangling capabilities of the system and how access to this capability can be controlled.

Platform provides plugin for Data preparation. Data preparation module have 65+ transformations which can be used for data wrangling which can be applied visually. Access to the data preparation is controlled via RBAC.

Does the BDB Platform supports structured, semi-structured, and un-structured data?

Dashboard/Visualisation is developed on top of the structured data. BDB Platform provides plugins like Data Pipeline & Data Science Labs to handle semi-structured and un-structured data.

The average amount of time required for the reports to be refreshed when the data has changed/updated?

BDB Platform doesn’t use any in-memory cache for Dashboards. All the services are pass through queries which get executed at the database level. Hence it doesn’t need any time to refresh when the data has changed/updated.

Can the system be used to write back/update other systems or data sources from a dashboard?

BDB platform have the ability to enable a write functionality from dashboard using the API Ingestion component of pipeline.

Does the BDB Platform host the solution in its Data Center?

The BDB Platform can be hosted either on-premise in the customer's data center or in the public/Private cloud. The choice of hosting option is entirely up to the customer, based on their needs and requirements.

The specific location for hosting the BDB platform is determined based on the customer's requirements and their preferred cloud service provider.

Do customers have control over platform patches and upgrades?

BDB intimates customers regarding the latest upgrades release and based on their approvals patches/new versions get updated to their production environment. We refrain from applying random updates and upgrades to the customer environment.

The customer would get all the updates in a controlled manner i.e. our team first applies them to a non-prod environment, tests them thoroughly, and only after successful testing, these updates are applied to the Customer Production environment on a specific date and time.
