Refresh Synonyms — How-to Guide

Use Refresh Synonyms to update a Data Store’s synonym directory so recent schema/name changes are reflected in search, NLP, and field lookups.

Prerequisites:

• Access to Data Center → Data Stores.

• Permission to manage the selected Data Store.

Steps

1. Navigate to the My Connectors page.

2. Click the Data Store option to get a list of the existing Data Stores.

3. Select the target Data Store.

4. Click the Options icon for the selected data store.

5. Click the Refresh Synonyms option for the corresponding data store.

• A confirmation message appears indicating that the Synonyms are updated.

What this does

• Rebuilds the Data Store’s synonym mappings (e.g., display names, aliases) so UI search/NLP features recognize the latest fields and terminology.

Notes & Tips:

• The refreshed synonyms will help the Data Store appear for new/updated terms after indexing.

• If you changed column names or added measures/dimensions, Refresh Synonyms ensures those updates are discoverable.

• Run Refresh Synonyms after:

  • Renaming fields or changing display names

  • Adding/removing dimensions/measures

  • Enabling Default Synonyms in Store Info

• Document commonly used business terms so that synonym updates remain consistent across teams.

Troubleshooting

• No visible change in search: Allow time for background indexing; verify Global Search is enabled in Store Info.

• Icon disabled or missing: Confirm your role has permissions on the Data Store.

• Wrong store refreshed: Check the confirmation message and repeat on the intended Data Store.
