Add Synonyms to Data Store

Enhance data searchability and consistency by adding synonyms for dimension values and defining units for measures within a Data Store.

Prerequisites:

• Access to My Connectors and the Data Store List.

• Permission to add synonyms or units for the Data Store.

Steps to Add Synonyms for a Dimension Value

• Navigate to the My Connectors Go to Data Center > My Connectors

• Access the Data Store List Click the Data Store option to see the list of existing Data Stores.

• Select the Data Store Choose the target Data Store for which you want to add synonyms.

• Open Options Click the Options icon for the selected Data Store.

• Add Synonyms Click Add Synonyms for the corresponding Data Store. Result: The NLP Synonyms window opens.

• Search for a Dimension In the NLP Synonyms window, use the Search bar to find a specific Dimension (e.g., Skills).

• Add Values to Dimension

  • Select the Dimension to which you want to add synonyms.

  • Click Add Values for the selected dimension.

  • The selected Dimension (e.g., Skills) appears at the top.

• Search for a Value Use the Search bar to find specific dimension values.

• Add Synonyms

  • Select the desired Value from the displayed list.

  • Click Add Synonyms for the selected value.

  • In the input field, enter new synonyms, pressing Enter after each one.

• Save Synonyms

  • Once the synonyms are added, click Save.

• A success message confirms that the synonyms dictionary has been updated.

Steps to Add Units to Measure Values

1. Select the Data Store From the Data Store List, choose the Data Store for which you want to add units.

2. Open Synonyms Window Click the Add Synonyms to Data Store icon for that Data Store. Result: The NLP Synonyms window opens.

3. Search for a Measure Use the Search bar to find a Measure (e.g., Monthly Salary).

4. Choose a Measure Select the Measure from the displayed list.

5. Select Unit Click the Units drop-down menu to view available options (e.g., USD, EUR, INR).

6. Apply Unit Select a unit for the Measure.

7. Confirm and Save A notification confirms the unit update. You’ll be redirected back to the Data Store List page.

Notes:

• Synonyms are critical for improving NLP searches and creating more user-friendly search capabilities within the platform.

• Units help standardize measures for global consistency and facilitate accurate reporting.

• Custom field mapping for units and synonyms is essential for global adoption across different teams and business processes.

Troubleshooting

• Synonyms not showing in search: Ensure the dimension values are correctly spelled and included in the Data Store before adding synonyms.

• Unit not available in drop-down: Ensure the unit is configured within the system's measurement types; contact an administrator if a unit is missing.

• Changes not reflected: Refresh the page after saving synonyms or units and check the updated fields in any related reports or data views.
