Global Filter

This page explains the Global Filter functionality available for the reports.

The Global Filter applies a selected parameter to an entire Report, ensuring that all Views connected to the relevant Data Store are filtered consistently. This functionality is available on the final page of a Report and is useful for applying uniform conditions, such as region, department, or time range, across multiple Views.

Note: If a Report contains Views from multiple Data Stores, the Global Filter only applies to Views associated with the selected Data Store. Views based on other Data Stores remain unaffected.

Applying a Global Filter

  1. Navigate to the Report.

  2. Click the Global Filter icon on the menu panel.

  3. The Filter panel opens, displaying available filter values.

  4. Select a Dimension, Measure, or Time field:

    • Selecting a Dimension displays all sub-dimensions.

    • Selecting a Measure or Time displays related fields.

  5. Choose a filter condition from the drop-down menu:

    • In – Include only selected sub-dimensions.

    • Not In – Exclude selected sub-dimensions.

  6. Select the sub-dimensions using checkboxes.

  7. Click the Apply icon.

The Global Filter icon is highlighted, and all Views connected to the Data Store are updated.

Example

  • A Report contains six Views:

    • Five Views from NLP_hiring_data_Aug1.

    • One View from Sample Data Store.

  • Applying a Global Filter on NLP_hiring_data_Aug1 updates the first five Views, while the sixth remains unaffected.

Attaching a Filter to the Panel

  • In the Filter panel, click the Attach to filter panel icon next to a selected filter condition.

  • The filter value is added to the top filter panel and highlighted in blue.

  • From the top filter panel:

    • Select sub-values as required.

    • Click Apply at the top of the Report.

  • The filter value is applied to all Views linked to the relevant Data Store.

Filtering Options

  • In – Filter Views by only selected values.

  • Not In – Filter Views by excluding selected values.

    • Example: Filtering out Rajasthan cities ensures only non-Rajasthan data is displayed.

Managing Global Filters

  • Sequential Filtering – Filters are applied in the order of selection.

    • Example: First by Source = Referral, Orgspire, CareerNet, then by Gender = Female.

    • Result: Displays female employees from the selected sources.

  • Exclude Global Filter – If enabled for a View, that View will not be affected by the Global Filter.

  • Multiple Data Stores – Global Filter only affects Views from the chosen Data Store; others remain unchanged.

  • Refresh Icon – Click to refresh Views and clear Global Filter effects from the Report.

Notes:

  • Global Filters ensure consistency across Views in the same Data Store.

  • Attach frequently used filters to the top filter panel for quick reuse.

  • When working with Reports containing multiple Data Stores, confirm which Views are affected before applying Global Filters.
