Interactions
The Interactions feature enhances the global filter, enabling users to filter multiple views in a report by making a selection in a single source view.
The Interactions feature extends the functionality of the Global Filter by allowing users to filter multiple Views in a Report based on a selection made in a specific source View. When enabled, clicking a value in the source View dynamically filters the related (target) Views, creating an interactive, cross-filtering experience within the Report.
Steps to Apply Interactions
Navigate to the Storyboard (Report final screen).
Select a View and click the Edit option.
The Design workspace opens for the selected View.
Click the Interactions icon.
The Interactions panel opens.
Enable the Interactions option using the toggle button.
Choose Views to be affected by interactions:
Select Views individually using checkboxes.
Or click Check All to include all Views.
Click the Apply icon to confirm.
Save the configuration by clicking the Save icon.
A notification confirms that the Interaction settings have been applied.
Using Interactions
In the Report, click a value in the source (base) View.
The related Views update automatically to display only data linked to the selected value.
Changing the selection in the source View updates all targeted Views dynamically.
Example
Source View: Bar chart showing Sales by Region.
Target Views: Line chart showing Revenue over Time and a Table showing Sales by Product.
When a user clicks North Region in the Bar chart, both the Line chart and Table update to display only data for the North Region.
Best Practices
Use Interactions to link complementary Views (e.g., geography → sales performance).
Limit Interactions to relevant Views only to avoid cluttered filtering results.
Combine Interactions with Global Filters for a layered analysis approach.
