Deleting a Data Store Metadata

The Delete Data Store Metadata feature permanently removes a specific Metadata Store; this irreversible action is used to clean up unneeded or outdated data.

The Delete Data Store Metadata feature allows users to permanently remove a specific Metadata Store from the system. This action is irreversible and should be performed with caution. Deleting metadata is typically done when the data is no longer needed or to clean up unused or outdated metadata stores.

Best Situations to Use

Use the Delete Data Store Metadata feature when you want to:

  • Remove unused or obsolete metadata stores that are no longer relevant.

  • Clean up outdated data models that have been replaced by newer versions.

  • Perform housekeeping in the system to reduce clutter and maintain a clean data structure.

Not Recommended for:

  • Deleting metadata stores that are still in active use or contain essential data for reports.

  • Removing metadata without reviewing dependencies or ensuring that it’s no longer needed.

Steps to Delete Data Store Metadata

  1. Navigate to the Data Store Metadata list.

  2. Select a Data Store Metadata from the list of available metadata stores.

  3. Click the Delete icon next to the selected Data Store Metadata.

  4. The Remove Data Store dialog box will appear, confirming the deletion request.

  5. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.

Notes:

  • Deletion is irreversible: Once the Data Store Metadata is deleted, it cannot be recovered. Ensure that the metadata store is no longer required before proceeding with the deletion.

  • Always verify dependencies or associations with other components before deleting metadata to avoid unintentional disruptions in other parts of the system.

  • Users may not have permission to delete certain system-critical or shared metadata stores depending on their roles and permissions.
