Data Search

The Data Search Component enables users to search across datasets and interact with associated charts through a simple search bar interface. It provides auto-generated suggestions for queries, ensuring faster navigation and easier discovery of relevant insights.

When integrated into dashboards, Data Search acts as a central interaction point, allowing users to type text queries, filter data, and visualize results across multiple connected charts.

Use the Data Search Component when you need to:

Properties of the Data Search Component

General

  • Background Color: Set the background color of the component.

  • Opacity: Adjust transparency of the background.

  • Border Radius: Define curvature for component borders.

  • Font Color: Choose text color.

  • Font Size: Specify text size.

  • Font Style: Apply styles such as italic.

  • Font Weight: Adjust thickness (Normal, Bold, etc.).

  • Font Family: Select font type for text.

  • Text Decoration: Add styles like underline.

  • Icon Font Size: Set size for icons within the component.

  • Panel Height: Define height of the panel containing the search bar.

Associating a Chart

The Data Search Component can be linked to multiple charts so that search results dynamically filter or update those charts.

Steps to associate a chart:

  1. Navigate to General Properties of the Data Search component.

  2. Click the Associate Chart icon.

  3. In the Associated Chart dialog box:

    • Select one or more charts using the provided checkboxes.

  4. Click Save to complete the association.

Once associated, queries in the Data Search bar automatically update the selected charts.

Preview Mode

  • The preview mode displays how the Data Search component will look and behave when published.

  • Auto-generated suggestions appear as users type, providing context-aware query options.

  • Associated charts update dynamically when queries are applied.

Example

In a customer analytics dashboard:

  • A Data Search Component is linked with Bar, Line, and Pie Charts.

  • A user types “Top 10 Customers by Revenue” in the search bar.

  • The system suggests relevant queries, and upon selection, all associated charts update to display the filtered customer segment.
