My Insights

Users can customize their homepage by pinning their preferred views for quick, at-a-glance access.

The My Insights functionality transforms the platform homepage into a dynamic and personalized workspace. It allows users to select and display key widgets that reflect their most relevant data and metrics. By enabling the creation and insertion of widgets, users gain immediate access to critical insights, streamline their workflows, and tailor the homepage to suit evolving business needs. This feature enhances user engagement and efficiency by turning data into actionable, at-a-glance information.

Before using the My Insights functionality to pin a widget, it is essential to understand the widget creation and publishing process. Widgets must first be created—typically based on specific data sets—and then published to be available for selection. Only published widgets appear in the My Insights list, ensuring that users can add well-defined, ready-to-use components to their homepage.

Please note:

  • Widgets can be created from Data Sets using the Data Center module.

  • Only published widgets will be available for selection via the My Insights option on the homepage.

  • Users can select and add multiple widgets to customize their homepage view.

Widget creation and insertion to My Insights

Creating a Widget

  • Navigate to the My Connectors section from the Data Center module.

  • Select a data connector from the displayed list.

  • Open the Data Set tab for the selected data connector.

  • Select a data set from the displayed list. The user must create a new Data Set if the selected data connector doesn't have any datasets created.

  • Click the Ellipsis icon for the selected Data Set.

  • A context menu opens with the set of actions available for a Data Set.

  • Click the Create Widget option from the displayed list.

  • You will be redirected to the Dataset window with a Create Widget option.

  • Click the Create Widget button.

  • The next screen will be launched, prompting you to add a title for the widget. Provide a title for the new widget.

  • Select a chart category using the Select chart option.

    • Click the Select chart option.

    • A context menu opens with available chart icons.

    • Choose a chart category and click on the chart icon for the same. E.g., the Column chart icon is chosen in the following image.

  • Select a dimension using the Dimensions drop-down.

  • Define whether you want the selected dimension to be a Category or a Series in the widget.

  • Select a Measure and define whether it should be selected as a category or a series in the widget.

  • A default chart appears after the dimension and measure selection is completed.

  • The chosen dimension and measure will appear with a close icon, indicating their inclusion in the widget configuration. An Ellipsis icon will be added to the selected dimension/ measure.

    • Click the Ellipsis icon for a selected Dimension or Measure.

    • A context menu appears for it, displaying the additional information for the selected dimension or measure.

  • Click the Save option to save the widget.

  • Add the widget chart description in the given space.

  • A notification message appears, ensuring that the selected widget is saved successfully.

  • The saved widget will be listed under the Data Set drawer, which also provides an option for creating new widgets.

Before saving a widget, make use of the available chart properties to further enhance its visual display.

Chart Properties

Publishing a Widget

  • Navigate to the widget window for a Dataset.

  • Select a widget from the displayed list.

  • Click the Ellipsis icon for the selected dataset.

  • Select the Publish option from the drop-down menu.

  • A success message ensures that the widget is published successfully.

  • The widget will get a Publish icon next to a published dataset.

Adding a Widget under the My Insights Section

Users can add multiple widgets to the My Insights section according to their specific requirements. Only the published widgets from the Data Center module will be listed under the My Insights list.

  • Navigate to the My Insights section on the platform homepage.

  • Click the Add option.

  • The Widgets by Dataset drawer opens.

  • You may use the search bar to find a specific widget.

  • The display list will be customized to show the searched widget.

  • Click the Pin icon.

Please note: Click the Filter by Dataset option to filter out the displayed widget list.

  • A success message appears stating that the widget is pinned successfully.

  • Use the close icon to close the Widgets by Dataset drawer.

  • The recently inserted widget also appears on the My Insights section.

  • You can increase/ decrease the size of the newly added widget using the edges of the widget chart.

  • Click the Maximize icon in the top right corner of the My Insights section to maximize the Widget display.

  • The KPI Widgets drawer appears in the maximized format.
