Dashboard Canvas

The Dashboard Canvas Page is the primary workspace in Designer where you build, edit, and manage dashboards. It provides access to data sources, components, dashboard objects, and component attributes within a single interactive space.

Open the Dashboard Canvas

You can open a new Design Canvas in two ways:

Using the Add Dashboard icon

  • Navigate to the Designer homepage.

  • Click the Add Dashboard icon on the homepage.

Using the New menu

  • Navigate to the Designer homepage.

  • Click the New dropdown on the homepage.

  • Select Dashboard from the list.

Dashboard Canvas Layout

When the Dashboard Canvas opens, it consists of the following key areas:

  • Canvas area: Drag and drop charts, filters, and components here to build your dashboard.

  • Header menu panel: Provides quick-access options such as saving, previewing, and viewing modes.

  • Right-side menu panel: Includes data connectors, component libraries, and dashboard management tools.

Options on the Dashboard Canvas

The Dashboard Canvas includes a wide range of options to design and manage dashboards:

Option

Description

Tab

The workspace where dashboard design takes place. Drag and drop charts and components here.

Mobile

Displays the dashboard in mobile screen layout.

Tablet

Displays the dashboard in tablet layout.

Large Screen

Displays the dashboard in desktop layout.

Save to Local Disk

Saves the dashboard to your local disk as a .bvzx file.

Save to Another Workspace (Save As)

Saves a copy of the dashboard to the same or another workspace.

Save (Dashboard)

Saves the dashboard in the current workspace.

Preview

Opens the dashboard in preview mode.

Full Screen

Maximizes the dashboard for a better view.

Data Connectors

Connects to a wide range of supported data sources.

Component Library

Provides charts, filters, and grid components for building dashboards.

Manage Dashboard Components

Allows locking, hiding, and ordering the layout of components.

Component Variables and Script

Used to define component-level variables and scripting.

Guided Tour

Launches a walkthrough of the Designer Canvas.

Notes:

  • Click the Home option in the menu to return to the Designer homepage.

  • Use Save As to save a dashboard with a new name in the same workspace or to another workspace.

  • Use the Preview and Full Screen options frequently to validate the look and usability of your dashboard across devices.
