Backup & Disaster Recovery Management

The user can use the following types to back up data from BDB platform deployment. Specifically, these types describe a collection of backup data and assets.

There are three types of backup data that the BDB platform can generate. We recommend performing regular backups of each type in case you must restore a platform in a recovery scenario:

  • Repo Database Backup - All the platform metadata are stored in the Repo Database. BDB recommends daily backup of the repository database. All the platform metadata can be restored from this backup.

  • Shared Volume Backup – All the DS Labs models and Sandbox data are stored in the Shared Volume. Taking a snapshot of this volume may help to recover the data in case of any disaster.

  • Pipeline Metadata Backup – All the pipeline metadata are stored in the Pipeline Database. BDB recommends daily backup of the pipeline database. All the Pipeline metadata can be restored from this backup.

Please Note: The backup process can take a long time to run. Since no other jobs can be run while the backup is running, BDB recommends running the backup during non-business hours.

The entire Platform can be restored to the previous state by installing the platform on a new cluster and restoring the database from daily backup. Do the required changes on the database connection settings to ensure data is visible in dashboards/pipelines/charts.
