Dataset Properties

This page guides you through connecting your data source and then dragging fields to visualize the data values on a plot.

Use the Dataset tab to configure the dataset fields of a component. After you map a data connection and drag fields into Category and Series, you can fine-tune each field from the Properties pane at the bottom of the window.

Map a data connection & add fields

  1. Map a data connection using the drop-down menu (Ref. Connecting to a Data Source section).

  2. Drag and drop fields:

    • Category — add dimensions for the component.

    • Series — add measures for the component.

  3. Configure field-level options in the Properties tab (appears at the end of the Dataset window).

  • Number Formatter: Choose Indian or International to match your audience’s locale conventions.

  • Data Store settings: Use Data Store Type and Data Store Date to control aggregation and date formatting consistently across visuals.

Troubleshooting

  • Field not visible in chart: Ensure Visible is enabled for that field.

  • Unexpected totals: Verify Data Store Type matches the intended aggregation.

  • Date shows incorrectly: Adjust Data Store Date format.

  • Tooltip not showing: Enable Show Tooltip and set Tooltip Field for Data Grid.

  • Alignment & width issues: Use Text Align and Width to refine layout in Data Grid.
