Creating a Widget

Create, publish, and pin Widgets built from your Data Sets, and surface them in My Insights for quick access.

Prerequisites:

• You have at least one Data Connector available under My Connectors.

• A Data Set exists for that connector (create one if none is listed).

Create a Widget

1. Open My Connectors

   • Navigate to Data Center → My Connectors.

   • Select a data connector from the list.

2. Open the Data Set tab

   • Click the Data Set tab for the selected connector.

   • Select a Data Set from the list.

     • If the connector has no Data Sets, create a new Data Set first.

3. Launch the Create Widget flow

   • Click the Ellipsis icon () next to the Data Set.

   • Choose Create Widget.

   • You will be redirected to the Dataset window with a Create Widget option.

   • Click Create Widget.

4. Provide Widget details

   • Enter a title for the widget when prompted.

   • Click Select chart and choose a chart category and chart icon (e.g., Column chart).

5. Bind fields

   • From the Dimensions (drop-down), select a dimension and define whether it is a Category or Series in the widget.

   • Select a Measure and define whether it should be a Category or a Series.

   • A default chart renders after dimension and measure selection.

6. Review field chips

   • The chosen dimension and measure appear as chips with a close icon and an Ellipsis icon.

   • Click the Ellipsis icon on any chip to access additional options for that specific Dimension/Measure.

7. (Recommended) Adjust properties before saving

   • Use available chart properties (axes, legend, colors, data label, tooltip, etc.) to refine the visual.

8. Save

   • Click Save to store the widget.

   • Add the widget chart description in the provided space (optional).

   • A notification confirms the widget is saved successfully.

   • The saved widget is listed under the Data Set drawer, which also provides an option to create new widgets.

Publishing a Widget

1. Navigate to the widget window for a Dataset.

2. Select a widget from the list.

3. Click the Ellipsis icon (…) for the selected widget.

4. Select Publish from the drop-down menu.

5. A success message confirms the widget is published.

6. The widget shows a Publish icon indicating published status.

Adding a Widget under the My Insights Section

Only published widgets from the Data Center module are listed in My Insights.

1. Go to Platform Homepage → My Insights.

2. Click Add.

3. In Widgets by Dataset drawer:

   • Use Search to find a specific widget (the list filters as you type).

   • (Optional) Click Filter by Dataset to narrow by Data Set.

4. Click the Pin icon for the widget you want to add.

5. A success message confirms the widget is pinned.

6. Click the close icon to dismiss the drawer.

7. The newly inserted widget now appears in My Insights.

Resize & Maximize

• Resize: Drag widget edges to increase/decrease size.

• Maximize: Click the Maximize icon (top-right of My Insights) to expand the widget.

• The KPI Widgets drawer appears in the maximized format.

Notes & Tips:

• If you don’t see Create Widget, ensure you are on the Data Set list for the selected connector and that the Data Set belongs to that connector.

• For a consistent look, set chart properties before saving; you can still edit later if needed.

• Publishing is required for the widget to appear in My Insights.

Troubleshooting

• No Data Sets listed: Create a Data Set for the selected connector, then return to Create Widget.

• Widget not appearing in My Insights: Ensure it’s published; refresh the My Insights list.

• Missing chart options: Verify that you have selected a valid chart category and chart icon under the Select chart.

• Incorrect fields: Reopen field chips (Ellipsis) to reconfigure or remove with the close icon, then rebind.
