Creating a New Data Sandbox

Create and save a Data Sandbox to upload files for profiling, preparation, and downstream use in Data Stores, Data Sheets, and reports.

Supported file types

.csv, .xls, .xlsx, .xlsm, .txt, .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .mp4, .json, .pdf, .avro, .parquet

Steps

  • Open Data Center

    • Go to the Data Center homepage.

  • Start creation

    • Click Data Center > My Connectors > Create > Data Sandbox.

    • The Data Sandbox form opens.

  • Enter details

    • Data Sandbox Name – required

    • Description – optional

  • Save as Document Store

    • By enabling this checkbox, the sandbox file will be available as a document to the Data Agent functionality.

  • Choose file Use the Drag your file(s)/ Browse option → upload a file from your system.

  • The selected file name appears next to Choose File.

  • Upload Click Upload.

    • A progress/count indicator increases during upload.

    • On success, a confirmation message appears.

  • View in list You are redirected to the Data Sandbox List page. The new sandbox appears at the top of the list.

Upload File Status

Sends a notification confirming upload status.

Data Preparation

Opens the Data Preparation Workspace for this file.

Remove

Deletes the selected Data Sandbox.

Create Data Store

Starts the Data Store creation flow using this file.

Reupload

Replaces the existing sandbox file with a new version.

Preview

Opens a data preview for quick verification.

Create Datasheet

Creates a Data Sheet using the sandbox file as source.

Notes:

  • Large files may take longer to upload; keep the browser tab open until confirmation appears.

  • For multi-sheet Excel files, the sheet selection will be prompted later (during Prep/Data Store/Data Sheet flows).

  • Users can access the respective interfaces for Data Preparation, Datastore, and Datasheet by clicking the corresponding 'Create' buttons. For detailed instructions, please refer to the documents on "Creating a New Data Preparation," "Creating a New Datastore," and "Creating a New Data Sheet."

Troubleshooting

Corrupted or unsafe file detected

  • You’ll see a warning if the uploaded file is corrupted or contains malicious data.

  • Action: Clean or re-export the source file and try again, or upload a different file.

Upload appears stalled

  • Check network connectivity; if needed, cancel and retry the upload.

File not visible after the success message

  • Refresh the Data Sandbox list and confirm your filters; the newest item should be at the top.
