The Search Bar in a Data Catalog is a critical user interface component that enables users to quickly locate and access data assets across the organization’s data ecosystem.

The Data Catalog search bar serves as the primary entry point for data discovery, allowing users to conduct keyword-based searches on metadata attributes. The Search Bar serves as a powerful and intuitive feature of the Data Catalog, enabling users to effortlessly retrieve relevant data-related information within seconds by eliminating the need to access or locate the underlying data asset.

The Search Bar enhances user productivity by minimizing the time spent locating data. It supports both technical and non-technical users in making informed decisions by providing fast, intuitive access to trusted and well-documented data assets.

  • Navigate to the default Data Catalog list.

  • Access the search bar from the top.

  • Enter your queries in the Search bar to search for them across the asset types.

  • Click the Search icon or press the Enter key to initiate the search.

  • The displayed list gets customized based on the search result. E.g., A Key term used for search, like 'test', can list out the data assets across multiple asset types, such as Agentic tools and Attributes.
