Dashboard Themes

This page displays how to apply dashboard themes to a dashboard.

Access pre-defined themes to instantly change the visual appearance of your dashboard. The Designer provides a set of visually consistent themes under Dashboard Properties, allowing you to switch styles from a simple drop-down.

Apply a theme

  1. Open the dashboard on the Designer canvas.

  2. Right-click anywhere on the canvas → select Properties.

  3. In Dashboard Properties, choose Global Font and Themes.

  4. Click the Designer Themes () icon.

    • The Dashboard Theme Selection window opens.

  5. Open the Theme List drop-down and select a theme (e.g., Default or Material).

  6. Click Save.

What a theme affects

  • Global color palette and background styling

  • Default chart/legend/axis tones and UI chrome

  • Global font family, sizes, and weights (as defined by the theme)

Note: Themes do not change data bindings, queries, or component logic.

Working with Global Properties & component overrides

  • Themes provide a baseline. You can still refine styling via Global Properties (Background, Title/Sub-Title, Axes, Legend, Formatter).

  • Individual components may override the theme (e.g., custom colors, fonts). Those explicit settings take precedence.

  • To achieve a uniform look, set the theme first, then apply Global Properties, and only then add component-level exceptions where required.

Best practices

  • Choose a theme early in the design to establish a consistent visual identity.

  • Validate contrast and readability (legends, labels, grid text) after applying a theme.

  • If you maintain multiple dashboards, standardize on one theme to keep the user experience consistent.

  • Document any component-level overrides so future edits don’t unintentionally break consistency.

Troubleshooting

  • Theme appears partially applied: The component likely has local overrides (custom colors/fonts). Remove or adjust those overrides.

  • Fonts didn’t change: Ensure the theme defines fonts and that Use Global Font (in Global Font and Themes) isn’t being superseded by per-component font settings.

  • Colors look off in exports: Some export formats use their own palettes; verify export options and test with Preview.

Notes:

  • The Theme List shows all pre-defined themes available in your environment.

  • You can switch themes at any time by reopening Designer Themes, selecting a different theme, and clicking Save.
